Along with other domestic producers like Elgin, Waltham, Ingersoll, and Timex, the Hamilton Watch Company emerged at the turn of the twentieth century as a mainstay of American watchmaking. Hamilton creates timepieces with enduring design characteristics, reliable construction, and expertly crafted in-house movements. Despite the fact that many of their watches are powered by dependable, mass-produced movements like the ETA 2824 and the Valjoux 7750. By the 1960s, hamilton watch
had acquired the Swiss-based Buren Watch Company. After acquiring their factories, Hamilton moved all of its production there, starting its ongoing Swiss era.
